3 Ways to Reset for 2021
We’re back!! 2020 was crazy for so many reasons, some of which have already carried over to the new year. Aside from the pandemic, I had one of the busiest years of my life. I got engaged, started AND finished my MBA, and launched a new business… all while continuing to work my regular full-time job. Needless to say, by the end of the year I was experiencing complete burnout.
I knew needed to take time to relax and reset my focus on the year ahead of me. I’ve spent the past 2 weeks trying to recuperate from last year while also re-concentrating my energy on the present. Here are the top 3 things I focused on to set the tone for 2021.
1. Getting Organized
We moved into our house in June 2019, and that was the last time I organized my closet. I’m not kidding when I say it was overflowing. One of the first things I did this year was re-organize my whole wardrobe! We barely have any closet space, so I ended up putting over half of my clothes away in zip up bins that are easily accessible. I gained SO MUCH ROOM I’m now able to easily find anything in my closet!
2. Healthy Living
As I got busier and busier last year, I completely fell out of my fitness routine. I ended the year feeling like my stress and anxiety levels were through the roof. I kicked off the year by getting back into a good fitness routine. I made sure to make sure to set realistic goals that I know I can achieve, even when my schedule gets busier. When I feel extra stressed or unfocused, I throw in an extra workout, which feels like a breath of fresh air to my mind!
3. Things I love
Finally, I made sure to make time for things I LOVE. I found the time to sit down and read a book, paint that wall in my house I’d been meaning to paint since we moved in, made a point of cooking some of my favourite recipes + some new ones, and I focused on spending more time with my fiancé. These are all things that tend to disappear out of my life when I get busier… LOL! This year I really want to focus on having more balance in my life and doing more of the things that make me happy.
So, there you have it! Whether you have 2 weeks, 2 days or even 2 hours, set aside the time to reset and refresh yourself before you take on the year ahead. I have to say I feel so accomplished and rejuvenated, just from putting my focusing on a few simple things. How did you/how are you planning to reset for the new year? Let me know in the comments below!!
